ZANUSSI EASY RANGE 

This range of fridge/freezers were part of a huge brand repositioning project. Initially the project was an exterior facelift, the 3D, the branding and the colours. But after reviewing the interior parts complexity and cost targets, the project became a purpose made low cost fridge solution with everything designed to maximise design impact and keep costs to a minimum.

The consumer target group for Zanussi was ‘Comfortable Living’ aimed at the entry and core markets. This is the brand personality which drove the concepts and design. My solution was to remove the costly printed graphics and put them in the tool. This way there would be no extra cost in production. To achieve this I had to work very closely with the 3d designers to ensure the interior surfaces would be suitable to take this type of graphic. The graphics were achieved by removing surface material from the tool causing a frost effect on the interior drawers and shelves. To visually represent the coolness of the different compartments, I intentionally made the graphics positive for the fridge and in negative for the freezer.

Along with the interior drawers, I carried the graphical theme over to the accessories, badges and interface. The new blue used in the 3D accessories was created and developed especially for this product range. This meant working with external suppliers as well our in-house multi-disciplinary team to achieve this unique product range. 

This type of graphic and colour theme was also applied to the rest of the 'easy' free-standing range which included, washing machines, dryers, microwaves, single and double ovens.
